Travel disruption as Southeastern rail to shut down services early

Last high speed services will depart around 9pm

Passengers travelling via Southeastern will face disruption today, as services are planned to shut down early.

Peak time services have moved to between 1 and 4pm, as the rail service expects the majority of commuters during this time.

After this, a limited service will be running, with last the train leaving Charing Cross at 7.45pm, and 7.50pm from Cannon Street.

The last high speed service heading in to London will be the 9.12pm service from Margate, and the last Victoria service will leave Orpington at 8.55pm.

After tonight’s shutdown, Network Rail are planning to begin major engineering works in the London Bridge area as part of the Thameslink Programme, which will last for ten days over the Christmas and New Year period.

During this time, services to Cannon Street, Charing Cross, London Bridge and Waterloo East will not be running, instead they will serve Victoria, Blackfriars or New Cross.
