PUBLISHED: 09:52 21 June 2013 | UPDATED: 12:09 21 June 2013

A teenage pedestrian killed in a collision with a car in Crayford this morning has been named locally as Kyle Rich.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) was called to Thames Road just before 5am to reports of a road traffic collision.

The 18-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and the 56-year-old driver of a red Range Rover was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Formal identification awaits and a post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

Tributes poured in on Twitter. Jade Wilkinson said: “Just shows anything can happen to anyone now days rip Kyle Rich.”

Ria Powell added: “Sweet dreams Kyle Rich,” while Betsy Harris said: “Such sad news. Selfish, reckless people taking innocent lives.”

A spokeswoman for LAS said: “We sent a single responder in a car along with one ambulance crew, one London Air Ambulance and two duty officers.

“Despite our best efforts the person was pronounced dead at the scene by the doctor of the air ambulance.”

Road closures were put in place and they were reopened around 9.35am.
