A MECHANIC is gearing himself up for a charity coastal walk challenge after three of his friends were diagnosed with muscular diseases.

A MECHANIC is gearing himself up for a charity coastal walk challenge after three of his friends were diagnosed with muscular diseases.

Stuart Priddle, 35, from Eltham, will be taking part in the Coast to Coast walk next Thursday to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

He said: "I never even usually walk to the shops. The last time I had to walk anywhere was when my bike broke down and I had to walk to the nearest emergency phone.

Now I am doing 15 to 20 miles at the weekends and doing my best to get as fit as I can. I'm going to need to be."

He added: "Friends and family have been very generous and I hope other people in the town will sponsor me if they can. Even a few pounds will make a huge difference and mean the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign can continue their invaluable work supporting people and their families."
