Superstar judge Jason Donovan insists he is on the side of contestants in the T.V show.
Aussie Jason played the lead in the West End production of ‘Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.’
“Essentially, I am one of them, I understand what it’s like to be on that side of the camera. But I think it’s really improtant to be honest and supportive,” he said.
But hopefuls should not expect an easy ride from Donovan.
He said: “I think the thing with judging is to be honest and I think it’s about constructive criticism.”
That is because there is so much talent to pick from, he claimed.
“The level of talent is so strong and the margin so thin, that actually trying to comment on the performances is very difficult.
“And [it gets] worse as the show goes on, because you’ve got to come up with words in a certain time period. I could rabbit on for months, but I can’t,” Donovan told This Morning.
The ever-popular Edwardian period had its latest reincarnation in a play now debuting at Theatre 62.
