This latest Cassidy compilation on Blix Street Records is culled from unheard solo acoustic sessions - and they reveal Eva in fine form.
Not just another cheap Cassidy cash-in, despite being released 10 years after Songbird first reached the top of the charts, this collection of previously unreleased solo performances focuses on her voice, accompanied only by acoustic guitar.
These 12 songs boast a showstopping purity - a new, touching intimacy is revealed on Songbird, while raw emotion is brought to the tender True Colours.
Over The Rainbow and an extended, fingerpicked version of Paul Simon’s Kathy’s Song make delicate, divine listening, and will perhaps bring her immense talent and pure voice to new ears.
The acoustic blues of People Get Ready is exquisitely sad, while the album closes with Cassidy’s first a capella song, I Know You By Heart - over all too soon. A gripping listen.
