Flame haired pop goblin Ed Sheeran might have some explaining to do – after Pink Floyd went public to firmly quash reports of a London Olympics duet.
Sheeran was quoted in Australia telling of an upcoming tie-up at the Games’ closing ceremony - between him and the prog rock behemoths.
“I’m playing the closing ceremony - which I think is kinda cool right? A lot of people think that I’m doing a song with The Who but I’m not - I’m doing a song with Pink Floyd. I’m doing ‘Wish You Were Here’” reported Austrailan pop radio station Nova.
But it seems Sheeran and many Floyd fans must continue to wait for the next appearance by the Dark Side of the Moon legends.
An official statement poured cold water all over any Olympics-related flames of excitement.
“In response to press speculation, Pink Floyd state that the band is NOT performing at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games,” a spokesman said.
A Tate deal has saved one of “the great masterpieces of British art”, which will soon go on show in London and across the country.
