A new action-packed trailer for the 007 film due out later this year shows the spy, played by Daniel Craig, appearing to fake his own death.

He is seen plunging hundreds of feet from a viaduct into a river below after being shot.

Bond returns to the screen by telling his boss M: “Commander Bond reporting for duty.”

The trailer also shows scenes of Craig running along London’s Whitehall and hurtling down a Tube escalator.

Skyfall is to be released in the UK on October 26.
