A boxing hopeful will fight for his chance to win £32,000 on a popular television showdown.

Menay Edwards, 26, from Crayford is due to take part in the Prizefighter Light-Heavyweights II on Saturday (29) at Olympia in Kensington, west London.

The Kent fighter who fits air conditioning units for a living has only fought four times since joining the pro ranks in June 2009 but he has won all of them and claims he has the goods to go all the way.

He said: “It has been a struggle for me to get fights to be honest because no-one wants to face me.

“After the win over Hari Miles (his third professional fight in May 2010) a few people have ducked me but I think that Prizefighter can get me to the next level.

“It’s been incredibly frustrating – I train hard for fights but people have pulled out so I’ve done all that work for nothing. I hit my physical peak and then had to come down without getting a fight – it drives me mad. I haven’t fought for six months and I’m chomping at the bit, no-one else here wants it as much as me.”

Edwards is one of four unbeaten fighters in the line-up, which will be screened live on Sky Sports 1 and in 3D.
