Windmill Memorial Gardens in Gravesend will be transformed by candle light to create a winter garden.

This is the second event that is being put on as part of Gravesham Borough Council’s Merry Christmas Everyone festive events programme.

Children and adults are invited to help light hundreds of candles to create the spectacle and take part in a short lantern parade, before a finale of singing and fireworks to close the event.

During the day there will be lots of things going on. From 12pm you can get your skates on and enjoy the ice rink, for which there will be a small charge.

There will be children’s entertainment including a magician, fun characters including special appearances from Peppa Pig and the Baby Ballet bear, an activity area with games and a trail for you to follow clues, Punch and Judy, an amazing birds of prey show and donkey rides (there will be a small charge for donkey rides).

Throughout the day there will also be choirs and bands and, of course, you can visit Santa in his grotto. Children under 14 can also get arty crafty with our lantern making workshops from 2pm-4pm.

Places for this workshop must be pre-booked by visiting and all lanterns will be used in the parade taking place at 4pm.

Candle-lighting will start at around 3pm when daylight starts to fade. Then from 4pm the parade will be led by the Mayor of Gravesham before topping off the day with a magical firework display.

The event will take place on November 26.
