Family film featuring Thomas the tank engine to be screened at Bluewater
PUBLISHED: 09:15 10 May 2016
The film will be shown on May 20 and 21.
Family-friendly film Thomas and Friends: The Great Race, will be screened in Greenhithe later this month.
Following on from last year’s release - Sodor’s Legend of the Lost Treasure - the film tells the story of Thomas the tank engine’s latest adventure.
It will be screened in Bluewater Shopping Centre’s cinema.
Thomas finds himself up against some tough competition in The Great Railway Show.
He hopes to represent Sodor, but the bigger engines say that he’s not big, strong or fast enough to compete against the best engines in the world.
The film tells the tale of Thomas’ determination to compete.
The 60-minute film features 13 new international engines.
These include Raul of Brazil, Yong Bao of China, Ivan of Russia and the brightly decorated engine from India, Ashima - voiced by Tina Desai.
An animated version of the restoration of The Flying Scotsman will also be featured.
James Dobbin, director of event cinema at Showcase Cinemas, is ‘excited’ about the screening.
He explained: “The Thomas and Friends films are always very popular with pre-schoolers and their families so we’re really excited to be showing The Great Race at our cinemas.
“The new international engines look really fun and it’s no coincidence that they’re being introduced in an Olympic year.”
The film will be screened at Bluewater Cinema de Lux at 11am on both May 20 and 21.
Tickets are £5.95.
