Jackie the Musical will be performed on stage later this month.
A musical reliving the ‘heady days’ of Jackie magazine will be making its way to Bromley.
Jackie The Musical tells the story of a divorcee in her fifties, who revisits her stash of well-thumbed magazines for advice on how to navigate the opposite sex.
Jackie magazine accompanied millions of girls through their teenage years in the 1970s and 80s - featuring tips on ironing hair and advice from agony aunts Cathy and Claire.
Janet Dibley, who became a household name after appearing in ITV series The Two Of Us, will be starring as Jackie.
Nicholas Bailey, well-known for his role as Anthony Trueman in BBC soap EastEnders, will play Max and Graham Bickley will be taking on the role of John.
The musical is written by Mike James, choreographed by former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips and supported by Jackie publishers DC Thomson.
Nina Myskow, the former editor of Jackie magazine, said: “I’m so proud to have been editor of Jackie in its golden years in the 70’s.
“It always was a girl’s best friend, but I could never have imagined then that its spirit of fun and warmth would live on to become a musical today,” she added.
It’s such a brilliant idea, and I’m absolutely thrilled that I’m going to be involved, all over again. How exciting.
“And I can’t wait to see it, to hear the music, and to be transported back to a time when we were all young, and not just young at heart.”
Jackie the Musical will be performed at the Churchill Theatre from March 22 to 26 and performances will be taking place at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
