Star had been due to play a Kent date in Margate as part of the Jason Donovan & His Amazing Midlife Crisis tour

A show by Jason Donovan - scheduled to take place in November in Margate - has been postponed after the singer, actor and presenter was forced to delay his entire tour.

The performer - best known for his role in Neighbours, the West End musical Joseph and his Amazing Technical Dreamcoat and a string of big pop hits - was due to perform at the Theatre Royal on November 21 as part of his tour.

Now, however, Jason Donovan and His Amazing Midlife Crisis has been postponed until the spring of 2018.

The Margate show will now take place on March 21, with all tickets valid for the new date.

The star explained: “It is with huge regret that due to reasons associated with my speaking voice, I’ve decided to postpone my forthcoming Midlife Crisis tour until the spring of 2018.

“Those that know me will know that this was not an easy decision, nor a decision taken lightly.

“For the past ten years I’ve done hundreds of shows and have only ever cancelled a handful of dates. As you can imagine, when your speaking voice is strained, it’s difficult to embark on a 35 date tour that primarily revolves around me telling stories about my career and my life.

“I want to be on top form so as I can enjoy the experience and most importantly that you as an audience can share these memories without a sense that I’m compromising my performance therefore my personality.

“Postponing this tour was the absolute last option but necessary if I’m to explore all avenues associated with improving this condition, which strains my speaking voice but does not directly affect my singing voice. The good news is that it is treatable but requires time, time to work through various options that medical advice has suggested.

“I will continue to fulfil all scheduled singing dates.”
