The musical has won six Tony Awards
Award-winning musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, will tour the UK in 2017 and is coming to two Kent theatres.
Joanne Clifton, world ballroom champion and professional dancer, will take on the role of Millie Dillmount.
The story is of Kansas born Millie who is determined to make it big in New York City, and Clifton who has previously worked on Face The Music, the Strictly Live Tour, and Marylin Monroe is sure to wear her dancing shoes for the role.
Having won six Tony Awards including best musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie is based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film.
The play promises to take the audience back to the “height of the jazz age in 1920s New York City, when ‘moderns’ including a flapper named Millie Dillmount were bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, entering the workforce, and rewriting the rules of love.”
The original story and screenplay by Richard Morris, will be available to watch at the Orchard Theatre in Dartford on April 10 to 15, 2017, and also at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley on June 5 to 10, 2017.
