TWO brothers have been remanded in custody after police found a suitcase with more than £1 million worth of drugs in a car.

TWO brothers have been remanded in custody after police found a suitcase with more than £1 million worth of drugs in a car.

Paul Channer, 47, of Vernham Road, Woolwich and Barry Channer, 39, of Rothbury Cottages, Azof Street, Greenwich, appeared at Thames Magistrates Court last Saturday.

The pair were charged the day before with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after police found a suitcase full of heroin with a street value of approximately £1.4 million.

They were arrested last Friday after police stopped two cars after firing Hatton rounds at it on the A12, northern approach to the Blackwall Tunnel, near Bromley-by-Bow tube station, at approximately 3.10pm. One lane of the A12 was closed while the cars were recovered. No-one was injured.

The brothers are due to appear at Kingston Crown Court on October 6.
