14 new jobs have been created following the launch by BHS at Broadway shopping centre

Customers were served up a slice of the action yesterday as a new restaurant and food hall opened, creating 14 new jobs at Broadway shopping centre in Bexleyheath.

The 3,000 square foot food section launched by BHS was welcomed by customers, especially the first 100 who were handed free chocolates to mark the occasion.

All 14 new staff attended the official ribbon-cutting on Tuesday, when a giant cake was also shared out, marking BHS’s nationwide project to create 250 new jobs.

Store manager at the Bexleyheath branch, Sophie Cassat, said: “It is a really exciting development for the store and we’re delighted to welcome the new food hall.

“We hope it will enhance the retail experience of our customers.”

Miss Cassat, who has been at the Broadway for 18 months, joined shopping centre manager Peter Sedge in declaring the food hall open for business.

Mr Sedge said: “I know our customers are excited to see the new food hall and I am delighted to welcome the 14 new members of the team to the Broadway Shopping Centre.

“There’s been a real buzz about opening day and that’s great to see.”
