A beaming smile alongside her fellow competitors says it all after Emelye Moulton, 15, pipped her eight rivals to the crown of Bexley Young Musician of the Year.

Emelye, a pupil at Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School in Hurst Road, won the award on Saturday (March 8) at the Townley Grammar School, Townley Road, Bexleyheath.

After receiving her award, she said: “I was so nervous and excited in the run up to the competition.

“I was shocked when I was announced the winner - everyone else was so talented.

Each of the finalists received a £50, a certificate and a photograph to commemorate the event.

The biennial awards are organised by four rotary clubs in the borough.
