£98k for adult learners

AN ADULT learning programme has been given £98,000.

AN ADULT learning programme has been given £98,000.

North Cray Neighbourhood Centre secured the cash for the Spread Your Wings initiative from the government's Learning for Pleasure budget.

The scheme aims to boost learning among adults, providing arts events, physical activity and fitness, reminiscence work, reading and discussion groups, gardening, and cooking.

Peter Catterall, Bexley council's cabinet member for leisure, arts and tourism, said: "The aim is to improve people's physical and mental well-being and to promote active citizenship and community cohesion, as well as providing a stepping stone towards further learning, qualifications and employment."
