More than 300 residents visited the Civic Offices in Bexleyheath on Saturday, October 20 for the borough’s second annual ageing well event.

The free event provided visitors with the opportunity to find out more about the support on offer for older residents from more than 40 local groups including Age UK, Mind in Bexley, Bexley CCG, Crossroads Care and the Alzheimer’s Society.

New to this year, residents were also able to take part in a wide range of interactive sessions, including ballroom dancing, Pilates, yoga and more.

People were also shown how to download and use Bexley’s own walking and fitness mobile phone app, BexleyWalks.

Bexley Deaf Centre was on hand to provide free hearing tests for visitors.

Cabinet member for adults’ services, Cllr Brad Smith said: “It was refreshing to see so many Bexley residents wanting to find out what help is available, but also willing to try something new, through the interactive sessions.”
