A MUSIC awards ceremony became the scene of a stabbing when the first incident of major violence broke out at the O2.

A 27-year-old man was knifed at the Annual Urban Music Awards, held at the Indigo2, in the former Millennium Dome in Greenwich Peninsula, at 10.10pm,

last Sunday.

Suffering multiple stab wounds, he remains in hospital in a serious, stable condition.

A second man aged 30 was also hospitalised with minor injuries.

Police closed off the area in order to quiz hundreds of people at the award-winning venue.

An AEG Worldwide Spokesperson said: "This is the first incident of this nature to have occurred.

"The O2 has invested in a permanent, full-time, dedicated on-site Metropolitan Police team.

"We have released all images from our extensive CCTV network to the police and are currently sitting down with all parties to review the details of the

incident."

A 21-year-old man was arrested and bailed to return in January.
