A NEWBORN baby girl was wrapped in a police jumper after she was delivered by two officers in the back of a car.

PC Dan Whiting and PC Marco Iannaccone stopped a car speeding down Plumstead Common Road at 5.20am last Monday, only to find a driver explain he was rushing a pregnant woman to hospital.

The officers called an ambulance but discovered the distressed woman in the back seat was about to give birth and within minutes had delivered a little girl.

An ambulance took the mother and her daughter to hospital where they were reported to be fine and healthy.
