Bexley Adult Education College has been given Ofsted’s seal of approval after receiving a glowing report from last month’s inspection.
The education watchdog rated the college as good overall and the college has been praised for the outstanding support it gives to its students.
Principal Stuart Crichton said: “This is an excellent result for the college and a platform from which we can continue to improve to become outstanding.
“The new inspection framework is much more rigorous and challenging and the report recognises the very important strengths of the Adult College and the commitment and common vision that we all share to providing a high quality service to our students, our community and partners.”
Ofsted’s report concluded that the college has an “outstanding ethos of care and support that pervades the College, enabling students to develop greater confidence and self-esteem, improve their social skills and make their first steps towards employment.”
It also commented on how well the college involves students and its engaging teaching.
Leader of Bexley Council Cllr Teresa O’Neill said: “It is a terrific achievement. This is an iconic service, which is leading the way at a time when adult education is changing. People have to move with the times. The college is ahead of the times and should be really proud of what it has achieved.”
