Half a dozen Bexley residents have been honoured for dedicating their lives to donating blood at an awards ceremony in central London.
They were among 34 dedicated donors from the south east who were honoured last week, and included Mark Addison, of Bexleyheath, Sidcup’s Paul Woodhams and Derek Brooker of Belvedere.
John Canning, donor relations manager for the south east at NHS Blood and Transplant, said: “The purpose of these award ceremonies is to say thank you to the donors that have committed so much time to donating blood.
“It’s wonderful that we can call on people who have dedicated themselves to giving blood over so many years, performing a life-saving role for no reward, other than the knowledge that they are helping others. I hope these donors inspire existing donors to keep giving regularly and also encourage new donors to sign up to start their blood donation journey.”
Joyce Fenelon, of Welling, Ian White of Bexley and Marian Pollard were also recognised.
