Bexley blooms at London garden awards

Bexley bloomed at this year’s London Gardens Society and London in Bloom competitions.

The borough was awarded the Wakefield Trophy, awarded to the top entrant, for the second time in three years.

In total, Bexley won nine other awards across the two competitions.

Cllr Gareth Bacon, cabinet member for environment and public realm, said: “I am delighted that Bexley’s efforts have once more been recognised so highly by these independent judges.

“In comparison to the other London boroughs our spending on parks and open spaces is extremely lean. This just goes to show what can be achieved by imaginative, prudent planning and by working in partnership with our community, who are willing to give up their time and skills to care for and improve their borough, making it a beautiful place to live and work.”
