Bexley civic society unveils plaque honouring explorer

A plaque dedicated to Lieut Henry Robertson ‘Birdie’ Bowers, who took part in the ill fated Terra Nova expedition to the South Pole, was unveiled on May 30 at 11am.
It was erected by the Bexley Civic Society at 13 Carlton Road, Sidcup, where the explorer had lived from 1891 to 1897.
It was unveiled by the Mayor Cllr Shoron Massey.
