College students enjoyed success in the National Guild of Bricklayers Competition for the London region.

Charlie Tasker, who is on the Brickwork Level 2 course at Bexley College, was awarded first place in the junior category and George Parratt, who is studying Brickwork Level 3, gained second place in the senior category.

The heats were hosted on May 22 at Barking and Dagenham College, Romford, and the winners will advance to compete at the National Guild Final due to be held at Sussex Downs College in Eastbourne.

Graham Thwaites, Curriculum Team Manager for Bricklaying and Carpentry at Bexley College, said: “I am over the moon with the fact that two of our students were placed. The judging is meticulous and, knowing the quality of the workmanship expected, I am very proud of their achievement in this very prestigious competition.”
