Bexley Council starts winter preparations

PUBLISHED: 06:00 29 September 2013

Bexley Council has started planning for winter as residents wave goodbye to summer.

A 25kg bag of rock salt costs £9 and a snow scoop costs £9, they will be sold on a first come first served basis.

They become available on Tuesday (October 1), visit for more information.

Cllr Gareth Bacon said: “Severe winters have been a trend in recent years and I am glad to say that Bexley has a strong winter resilience plan in place. As in past winters, dedicated staff will work around the clock if necessary, in order to keep our 145 miles of priority routes open and key services running.

“The council is also happy that it can once again offer cost price salt and snow scoops to residents - and that these have been kept at last year’s prices.

“As in previous years, I hope this will encourage a community spirit, bringing neighbours together to help keep pavements and driveways clear of snow and ice.”
