Bexley food premises owner fined £14,000

Bexley food preparation business owner Tony Chuoc Ha Lam has been fined £14,000.
He pleaded guilty to 14 offences under the food safety legislation at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on April 20.
Officers from the food safety team visited his food business, trading at SOY at Hailey Road, Erith, in March last year.
They found filthy premises in poor condition with extensive mould growth, dirty equipment, leaking drainage, no hand washing equipment and inadequate and unclean protective clothing.
They also discovered an active rodent infestation.
The business had not been registered with the council as required by law and had no systems in place to ensure that the ready to eat foods produced on site were safe to eat.
The Court also ordered Mr Lam to pay £2,000 towards the Council’s costs and a victim surcharge of £120.
