Bexley Foodbank is hosting a collection in Tesco’s in Welling this weekend to try and battle food poverty.

Volunteers from the Avery Hill Christian Fellowship on Friday and Saturday (July 5 and 6) in the Embassy Park store from 9am to 6pm.

Last month the foodbank said they had experienced a 25 per cent increase in traffic since changes to the benefit system were introduced in April.

Contact Rev Rob Stevens on for more information. The foodbank is open at Avery Hill Christian Fellowship in Southspring, Sidcup, on Tuesdays from 10am to 1pm and Thursdays from 12pm to 3pm.
