Scores of Bexley guiding leaders got together to celebrate long service milestones last week.

The volunteering landmarks which received certificates from Girlguiding UK ranged from five to 50 years.

Guide Leader Catherine Breen, who received an award for 5 years’ volunteering, said: “I can’t believe how quickly these past 5 years have gone and all the opportunities that volunteering with Girlguiding UK has given me.

“I have travelled to Tanzania to train young leaders, learned PR skills, cruised down the Regent’s Canal a narrow boat and seen the latest pop stars perform at a concert with over 10,000 screaming guides. I look forward to equalling the record of the other volunteers and reaching 50 years of volunteering.”
