Sainsbury’s Bexleyheath has officially launched a partnership with its new local charity of the year, Bexley Mencap.

The charity was chosen by Sainsbury’s customers through a public vote in June, and it will now receive a year’s worth of support by working with store colleagues on fundraising events.

Nick Marsden, fundraising manager at Bexley Mencap, said: “Thank you to everyone who came to support us at Sainsbury’s Bexleyheath over the weekend.

“We’re really excited to have been chosen as the store’s new Local Charity of the Year as the partnership will help us to raise the profile of our work helping people with learning disabilities and their carers and families locally as well as helping to raise funds for community based Healthy Lifestyle projects.”

Danny Styles, store manager at Sainsbury’s Bexleyheath, added: “We had a very successful launch for our new Local Charity of the Year, Bexley Mencap.

“I’d like to thank all of our customers for their support on the day and am looking forward to lots more successful events over coming months.”
