Teresa Pearce warned of rail travel problems in across Christmas and the new year

Erith and Thamesmead MP Teresa Pearce warned constituents travelling to London by rail over Christmas of forthcoming station closures.

Improvement works on the Thameslink service will start from the evening of December 24 until January 4 2016.

The works will result in the closure of London Bridge Station.

Ms Pearce said: “London Bridge, Waterloo East, Charing Cross and Cannon Street will all be closed from December 24 for ten full days.

“Many of my constituents will continue to commute during this period, and others may wish to use the holiday season to explore London or visit friends and families. I urge all rail travellers to check now how they may be affected by having to find alternative routes into London.

“Tickets will be accepted on alternative routes and some rail replacement buses will be available, but the best advice would be to check before you travel to make sure that you are not affected by the disruption.”
