Yvonne McCormack received a special ‘thank you’ award

A mum-of-two from Bexley has been personally thanked by the charity she helped raise funds for, after she inspired her colleagues to raise more than £16,500.

Yvonne McCormack works for global insurer American International Group, which was declared winner of the national 2016 Bliss Corporate Partner award.

The award comes after Mrs McCormack inspired her fellow employees to raise the money for the premature and sick baby charity.

With both her children born prematurely, she was keen to raise money for Bliss.

She said: “I was really lucky that my two babies were both healthy. Not everyone is fortunate and Bliss does such an important job in helping families with premature babies.

“My colleagues at AIG and others across the insurance industry were really supportive.

“It says a lot about our team spirit that four of my colleagues were willing to abseil down a very tall building to raise money for a charity that is so close to my heart.”

Caroline Davey, chief executive of Bliss added: “I’m delighted to recognise the hard work of Yvonne and her AIG colleagues in raising such a fantastic amount to support Bliss. The money they have raised will make a huge difference to the lives of premature and sick babies across the UK. Yvonne’s close connection to Bliss makes this all the more meaningful and we are thrilled to be able to celebrate all of her efforts in this way.”
