The fundraising event raises money for vulnerable children, young people and families

Nurseries in Bexley are getting ready to support this year’s summer’s Big Toddle after raising £900 for the cause last year.

In Bexleyheath, Pelham Nursery raised £174 and Little Dolphins Day Nursery raised £600, while The Croft in Belvedere raised £100 in 2015’s pirate-themed Big Toddle.

Organised by children’s charity Barnado’s - which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year - the event involves groups of children walking half a mile to raise money.

Lynn Gradwell, director of Barnardo’s in London, said: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone in Bexley who took part in last year’s Big Toddle, raising so much money to support our work with young people in London and beyond.

“We’re really excited so many people are taking part in our animal-themed Big Toddle, and we hope many more people will sign up to join in the fun in our 150th anniversary year, and help to make sure we are always here to support the most vulnerable children, families and young people.”
