Council marks first year of ‘unique’ Belvedere Beach

Today (27 July) it is exactly one year since Belvedere Beach on Woolwich Road officially opened, and since then thousands of local people have visited for a fun day out.

The bright and colourful seaside-themed playground has provided children of all abilities and their families with an inclusive and educational place to play.

The 0.66 hectare playground has also hosted occasional summer entertainment, including magic shows and face painting.

Cllr Peter Craske, Bexley’s cabinet member for places said: “We knew very early on in the design stages that Belvedere Beach would become a truly unique and contemporary landmark playground in Bexley. And it’s great to see that local residents agree.

“I would like to thank our parks and open spaces team for their continued work in keeping Belvedere Beach clean, safe and tidy for all to enjoy. If you visit Belvedere’s hottest beach during the summer holidays make sure you #DoitforBexley and take rubbish home with you or use bins provided.”
