Bexley police has named its new borough commander after it was announced Ch Supt Victor Olisa is leaving for Haringey.

Supt Peter Ayling, who is currently Superintendent of Operations, will take over the post on March 4 and will be the borough’s fifth commander in four years.

It also means Bexley will be one of only two London boroughs along with Kingston without a chief superintendent in charge.

Supt Ayling, 35, began his police career with Kent police in 1998 and joined the Met in October 2011 when he was posted to Southwark. He moved to Bexley’s force a year later.
