Bexley police sergeant charged with assaulting teenage suspect

A Bexley police sergeant will appear in court on Thursday charged with assaulting a 14-year-old suspect.

Steven Rea, 39, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with two counts of assault by beating.

He has been suspended from duty.

An investigation was launched after CCTV footage of the teenager being brought in to custody on October 13 last year was reviewed.
