Pupils from Old Church School at the Heritage Gate development

Bexley pupils swapped the classroom for a building site when they donned their hard hats to tour a new development on the banks of the River Cray.

Twelve children from Old Bexley Church of England Primary School went to Lindon Homes’ new Heritage Gate development.

They got to see for themselves how builders and heavy machinery work while learning valuable safety tips.

The company’s managing director Steve Bangs said: “It was a pleasure to invite the pupils to take a tour round Heritage Gate so they could see for themselves this new neighbourhood appearing in their community.

“It was exciting for them to see the construction process at first-hand and learn some important safety lessons. I hope some of them might even be inspired to become the builders of the future.”
