Bexley residents to feel benefit changes

PUBLISHED: 09:56 30 October 2012

Benefit changes to the welfare housing system that the government is planning to introduce will affect Bexley residents.

One of the key changes taking place from April 2013 is the reduction to Housing Benefit for households in social housing who have spare bedrooms.

Cllr Chris Taylor said: “These changes will lead to a better use of the existing social housing stock by encouraging tenants to consider downsizing, releasing larger accommodation for those families in greater need.”

For more information on the changes or how to transfer to a smaller property visit or call 020 8303 7777.
