The former deputy police borough commander in Bexley has been suspended from his new post after complaints by colleagues regarding his conduct.

Det Ch Supt Darren Williams was suspended from duty as Merton’s borough commander yesterday.

His conduct is now under investigation by the Directorate of Professional Standards.

Issues relating to “inappropriate behaviour” were raised by Met Police employees, a Met statement said.

It added: “We are not prepared to say anything that may confirm the identity of the complainants.”

“The Met expects all officers and staff to maintain the highest standards of conduct, where they fall short of this standard we will take the most appropriate action.”
