Bexley’s Sam Bailey is comfortably through the second live X Factor show.

But she did not receive quite the same praise for her rendition of Adele’s Make You Feel My Love as she did the week before.

Check her performance in the video above.

The 36-year-old prison guard has promised a “stonking” performance on this weekend’s show, with the theme movie week.

She told the judges: “I don’t want to be a one-trick pony.

“I want to show that I can smash any song.”

The pressure is on Sam as she is now the only contestant from the over 25s remaining after Shelly Smith was booted out last night.

But mentor Sharon Osbourne is confident the mother-of-two is a potential winner, and said: “It was beautifully confident, very well controlled and you had some very tender moments in there. I loved it.”

Louis Walsh, who has nicknamed Sam Screw-Bo, after former Britain’s Got Talent contestant Susan Boyle, added: “This girl is going to be here for a long, long time.”

Nicole Scherzinger was the only judge left unimpressed, calling the performance “lukewarm” - a criticism not well received by the audience.

Singer-songwriter Michael Bolton was enthused by Sam’s performance though. He tweeted: “Sam is absolutely amazing. I love her and the world will too.”
