Bridge replacement works began at the start of the year

After months of waiting the bridge at Bexley Village has reopened to southbound traffic.

The bridge had been closed to traffic both ways since February and was due to reopen in April.

But setbacks on works to replace the aging bridge, including the discovery of a rusted pipe which could have flooded the area, caused a delay in reopening the bridge to traffic.

From today, southbound traffic will be able to use the bridge, while northbound traffic will have to use a diversion until June.

The northbound diversion will be via Vicarage Road, Dartford Road, Old Bexley Lane, the A2 and Bourne Road.
