It will be closed until the end of March

Five weeks of closures in Bexley Village begin today (Monday) as work continues on the bridge entering Bexley Village.

The road has already suffered two-way traffic lights since the start of the year, as the next phase of works on the old bridge begin.

Starting today, work will begin to demolish the old bridge’s deck, while foundations for the new bridge will be built along with the first half of the bridge itself.

While the works go on, traffic will be diverted via the A2.

Northbound traffic will be diverted via Vicarage Road, Dartford Road, Old Bexley Lane, the A2 and Bourne Road.

Meanwhile the southbound diversion will be via Bourne Road, the A2, Old Bexley Lane, Dartford Road and Vicarage Road.

The closure is expected to last until March 28.
