Bexley youngsters in strong London Youth Games start

Young sports people in Bexley kicked off next year’s London Youth Games Campaign in style.
The competition, which involves all London boroughs, with a cross country run held at Parliament Hill, Hampstead Heath, and 42 youngsters from the borough took part.
Bexley’s male squad finished seventh overall while their female counterparts came eighth.
Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School student Holly Page won the individual silver medal in the under-13 category while the under-17 boys finished overall winners for their age group.
Cllr Don Massey, Bexley’s cabinet member for leisure said: “Every year the borough’s young athletes give us real cause to be proud thanks to their group and individual achievements in the London Youth Games.
“It is fantastic that Bexley has featured so well in the first event of the 2013 series.
“I am looking forward to more successes in the months ahead and to the finals next summer.”
In total 1,114 runners from the 32 London boroughs took part.
