Bexley youths make their mark in sports tournament

The team won a bronze medal
Bexley’s young competitors were in sparkling form at the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games, part of the School Games on March 25 winning a bronze medal in the boccia competition.
Cleeve Park School represented Bexley at Europe’s largest annual youth sports event which saw around 2,500 young people from across London competing in the Spring Finals at the National Sports Centre, Crystal Palace on 24-25 March in eight sports.
Boccia was one of eight sports taking place at Crystal Palace on 24-25 March.
Leyton Thompson, Team Manager of Cleeve Park School said: “They were very closely fought matches, the quality and the standard was very high and the boys did really well.
“They dug deep and we got another bronze medal so I’m really proud of them. They’ve really enjoyed the day as well.”
Sportshall Athletics, Badminton, Netball , Football, Boccia, Hockey, Inclusive Zone Basketball and Water Polo competitions took place. They are among 31 sports in the 2015 Balfour Beatty London Youth Games. The London Youth Games is Europe’s largest annual youth sports event and is driving the legacy for increased participation in competitive sport and volunteering for young Londoners.
