David Evennett ‘delighted’ by appointment

David Evennett MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford and Lord Commissioner to HM Treasury has been appointed a Privy Counsellor by HM The Queen.

Privy Counsellors are members of the Queen’s own council and their role is to advise the Queen in carrying out her duties.

In the past, the Privy Council was the chief governing body and fulfilled the role that the Cabinet performs today.

Membership of the council includes leading politicians, senior Judges, archbishops and other public figures. There are approximately 500 current members who are entitled to use the prefix Right Honourable.

Mr Evennett commented: “I am delighted to have been appointed a Privy Counsellor and consider it a great honour.”
