Remembrance Sunday is upon us, and the Bexleyheath and Welling branch of the Royal British Legion is desperately short of poppy volunteers.

From Sunday, October 27 there will be two stalls which need to be manned - Bexleyheath Broadway Shopping Centre and Morrisons in Welling High Street.

Peter Holden, who organises the poppy appeal in the area, said: “People can commit themselves to as many or as few shifts as they want.

“But we’re very short of numbers at the moment and it’s for a great cause.”

The RBL will also be opening the garden of remembrance at Christ Church, Bexleyheath, the Saturday before (October 26).

For more information on getting involved, call Peter on 0208 855 1211.
