Local MP David Evennett visited the school

St Thomas More Catholic Primary School in Bexleyheath is celebrating 50 years since it first opened its doors to local youngsters.

On Wednesday, the school held an exhibition titled ‘Our Parish - Our School: 50 Years of St Thomas More’.

To celebrate, pupils at the school have used a range of resources to find out more about the school’s history.

Their finding were presented to guests including local MP David Evennett via comprehensive displays, which included some of the many school uniforms used over the years.

It also mentioned the fire that burnt down the school hall in 1989.

Following the event, Mr Evennett said: “This is a wonderful and very informative historical display. The school have done a fantastic job.

“I thoroughly enjoyed learning a number of facts about the school and the area, and would encourage anyone in the local community to look at this project as well.”
