Staff donated toys which will be delivered to families with little or no income over the coming fortnight

Staff from a Bexleyheath care commissioning group have collected toys for struggling families this Christmas.

Health care practitioner Carla Williams organised the toy drop for families that have little or no income, to bring a bit of festive cheer to those less fortunate.

She said: “Considering the box was only there for two weeks it was an incredible response.

“We had stuff come from all over, we even had someone from Wales send some knitted stock so we’ve had all sorts, and I was totally overwhelmed by people’s kindness.

“The toys will be going to people that have no income at all and they deserve a little something at this time of year, so it’s really important.

“This is the first time I’ve done anything like this but I’ll definitely be doing it again in the future.

“Maybe I’ll put the box out a bit earlier next year.”

A member of the health visitors team will now deliver the toys to those families over the coming fortnight.
