HMV’s store in Bexleyheath will close within the next couple of months, the company’s administrator announced today.
Consultancy firm Deloitte have said that 66 of its entertainment shops will close, and the list included the one in Bexleyheath Broadway.
The affected stores will see 930 staff lose their jobs.
Nick Edwards, part of the Deloitte team, said the shops had been identified as part of an ongoing review of the company’s financial position and the group still hoped to secure a future for the business, which has 220 stores across the country.
He said: “This step has been taken in order to enhance the prospects of securing the business’ future as a going concern.
“We continue to receive strong support from staff and are extremely grateful to them for their commitment during an understandably difficult period.”
HMV went into administration last month but hopes of salvation were raised when restructuring firm Hilco bought the company’s debt.
