Rubbish was left Halcot Avenue, Bexleyheath

A Bexleyheath woman slammed a recycling crew employed by Bexley council for leaving a large amount of rubbish at the front of her house.

Serco, who have a contract with the council, left the mess at the front of Anne Ford’s house in Halcot Avenue last week and it took repeated calls to the contact centre to rectify the situation.

Mrs Ford said: “This is beyond a joke and it’s unfair that the street cleaning crew have to clear up after the refuse collectors.

“This is an endless problem with contractors not picking up their spillage but they have surpassed themselves this time.”

Bexley council said they have taken up the issue with Serco’s management and the company’s recycling crew attended Mrs Ford’s street later that day to clear up the mess.

A council spokesperson said: “We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to Mrs Ford. This is not the standard of service we expect from the recycling crews, and we have taken up the issue with Serco management.

“We will continue monitoring collections in the area to prevent this happening again.”
